In 2007 Alex Linsker walked up to strangers in New York City’s Union Square Park and said, “I’ll give you $5 if in five minutes or less we can’t figure out what to do about an upcoming situation you aren’t looking forward to.”
He started by improvising some questions, revising, learning, and pretty soon:
- A writer found a way for her coworkers to know it was her birthday without her telling them. She bought herself a Nick Cave CD and wrapped it paper with a ribbon and a card.
- A guy whose wife wanted a kid but said he didn’t want to have a kid, turned to his wife sitting on the park bench next to him to tell her he wanted to have a kid with her. “I could teach my kid to play guitar and sing. I’m a good teacher, I could teach her lots of stuff. And I’d take care of her real good.”
- And a woman who wanted to go back to school, needed money and loved to shop, got thrilled that she would save money to go back to school by shopping at the bank and buying herself a savings deposit each day.
This workshop touches on Improvisation, resourcefulness, creativity. We will discuss how we can use these qualities when working with other people to make life glow any time you want to. Learn a new approach to grant writing, project management, team building, day jobs, leadership and life.
This Thursday, come join Alex Linsker and Callie Wheeler at Research Club 2020 for the workshop. RSVP to email@example.com
