Back-and-forth “do-this-do-that” conversations are a failure in communication, solved by sitting down and doing the work together.
“I told you to…” conversations are a failure in communication, solved when someone takes ownership over the task.
When one person clearly owns a task, the biggest reason for miscommunication is that he doesn’t want to be responsible for it.
To truly fix communication, fix who is responsible for which tasks.
One reason there is no reason for managers who only manage is because when people fully own their responsibility for tasks, their vision, their wants and their relationships, then communication works.
