On great teams, everyone does work where they can be told, “Well done.”
Real work contributes directly to the final project. Managers who only do communication, emails, and manage people don’t bond teams. Everyone on a team needs to do real hands-on work, with directly visible results.
A manager who constantly micromanages his customer service team telling them what to do, might instead love to mentor his coworkers and spend most of his time on the phones, setting an example and enjoying his work.
